I’m Nikita, the maker behind *The Artful Weaver*, based in West Cork, Ireland. I create **hand-held turkey wing brooms**, **sustainable woven home decor**, and **beginner-friendly DIY weaving kits** designed to bring creativity, calm, and meaning back into everyday life.

My journey into weaving began during a difficult time in my life. After losing my baby shortly after birth, I found healing through slow walks in nature and simple, hands-on making. During the lockdown years I set myself a challenge — *Crafting My 5K* — exploring what I could create using only materials from within a 5km radius. That project led me to weaving, basketry, and eventually to the **paper string and natural fibres** that now define my work.

I teach **in-person weaving workshops in West Cork**, where complete beginners can learn to make small baskets, stars, key baskets, and other hand-held pieces using natural fibres. My approach is freeform, gentle, and focused on curiosity rather than perfection.
